Thank you for your interest in the Annual City Wide Pride Spring Clean-Up!
The City of Stafford along with Keep Texas Beautiful held its’ 23rd Annual City Wide Pride Spring Clean Up, a part of The Great American Clean-Up, on April 9, 2016.
The City of Stafford relies on the generous support of our community to make this event a success. Thanks to all of you for another successful event in 2016!
About The Event
The event is sponsored by the City of Stafford, Corporate sponsors and many local businesses. Many civic group volunteers, area businesses, Stafford students, churches, and HOA’s as well as other groups of local citizens will be canvassing the streets of Stafford picking up trash & debris. Participants will receive a T-shirt and will be fed lunch after picking up trash. Trophies will be awarded to participants for Most Trash Collected, Most Unusual Trash Collected, Most Participants in a Group, Most Valuable Trash, Largest percentage of recyclable drink containers picked up per team and The Oldest Trash Collector. The City will also have some hidden surprise bottles along the streets for each group that will result in some extra spending money.
In addition to the cleaning of the streets, the City of Stafford is once again offering the chance for residents and businesses to shred sensitive documents. A National Association for Information Destruction certified contractor will be at City Hall from 9 am to 1 pm shredding documents. The operation will allow you to drive thru, shred your documents, and return to your home.
Another exciting opportunity for residents and businesses is the disposal of e-waste. Again you will be able to get rid of your old computers, televisions, monitors, laptops, cell phones, keyboards and similar items by driving through City Hall parking lot, unloaded at the designated area, and driving back to your home while hardly breaking a sweat. Items not excepted will be large appliances, thermometers, fire alarms/detectors or anything with sludge or liquid.
That day will also be an opportunity for residents to place heavy trash at their curbside for pickup. Our local waste collector, WCA, will be joining in our efforts by sending their trucks throughout the neighborhoods the day of the clean-up. Residents are asked to have their heavy trash placed by the curb no later than 7 a.m. on Saturday. WCA will NOT accept paint, chemicals, batteries, regular household waste or car parts that day. Refrigerators and freezers will be accepted, but these appliances must first be drained of coolant. Lumber, plywood, small tree limbs, and other such material must be cut into four-foot lengths and tied into bundles.
Automobile batteries can be dropped off at Stafford Auto Supply located at 2424 South Main.
Again this year, with the support from our local Firestone Tire & Service Center located at 515 FM 1092, our city crews will be canvassing the neighborhoods to pick up used tires without rims. Please place tires at the curb early Saturday morning separated from other heavy trash. Anyone having a large quantity of tires should contact our office at (281) 261-3941 to make special arrangements for disposal. Tires will not be accepted at the Firestone Tire & Service Center without prior consent from the City of Stafford.
