The Stafford Newsletter

The City of Stafford’s proposed budget for Fiscal Year 2023 Budget is available to view on our website. “The budget meets the elements of what we know are important, protecting the health, safety, and welfare of our great city and its citizens,” said Mayor Willis in his 2022-2023 budget message. "Stafford is a complete City where we can live, work, play, and have a great educational opportunity. More opportunities are developing in all areas. We have the advantage of being located in one of the fastest growing counties in America. We are also a very diverse community in a diverse country. In my opinion, each of these elements supports the other. I'm proud to state for the 2nd year, my administration has met and exceeded these principles and goals.”

Message from the Mayor

Wow, this summer and fiscal year has flown by. The city of Stafford engaged in budget workshops for our new fiscal year. City council will vote on the 2022-23 proposed budget on September 28, 2022 at 7 p.m. Again, the mayors budget is focused on sound principles.

  . Balanced  budget
  . No diminished services
  . Enhanced and streamlined operations
  . Rebuilt fund balance

These concepts continue to serve us well as we move the city forward together.
Included in the mayors budget are seven new or modified positions. We are proposing to add new equipment in a multitude of departments. We are also including new software and hardware to increase efficiency in some of our programs. I feel that all of these additions will improve our efficiency.
SMSD is looking forward to a great year with classes being back in session. SMSD's budget was approved August 29, with a 14-0 vote for the 2022-2023 fiscal year.

Again I wish to thank everyone for your contributions to our great city. I also want to acknowledge our tremendous staff for what they do for each and everyone of us daily.

Best,
Mayor Cecil Willis
