The Criminal Investigations Division is comprised of one Criminal Investigations Lieutenant, one Sergeant, eight Detectives, two Investigators, one Crime Victim Liaison, and one Secretary. This division works with our Patrol Officers and neighboring agencies to aid in the investigation of cases and prosecution of suspects. Detectives are trained and specialized in fields, that include:
- Child Abuse Prevention and Investigation
- Sexual Assault and Family Violence Investigation
- Fraud and Identity Crimes Investigation
- Cell Phone Forensics
- Computer and Social Media Investigation
The Crime Scene Unit / Evidence Technician is assigned to the Criminal Investigations Division; working cooperatively with Detectives and Patrol Officers to ensure the proper collection of evidence. Extensive training is required to guarantee precise processing, tracking, review, investigation, and court testimony of evidence.
The Crime Victim Liaison regularly responds to violent crimes to assist officers, detectives, and victims. Our CLV provides on-scene support to victims and provides victims with support during the ongoing investigative process. Some of these services include:
- On-Scene Supports
- Serving as the liaison between the victim and law enforcement
- Assistance in filing for Crime Victims’ Compensation
- Assist with follow up services
- Community Awareness
- Support in navigating the Criminal Justice System
- Victim Advocacy
