Residential Solid Waste
Residential Solid Waste services in the City of Stafford are provided twice a week by GFL Environmental (previously WCA Waste Corporation). Solid waste collection is determined by where you live in the city. Collection days are either Monday and Thursday or Tuesday and Friday. Refer to the Interactive GIS Map and enter your address to determine when Residential Solid Waste services are available to you. Recycling
Recycling services in the City of Stafford are collected once a week per designated area by GFL Environmental. Collection days coincide with solid waste pickup days and recycling is collected on the second pickup day of the week. Areas with collection days on Monday and Thursday will have recycling collected on Thursday, and areas with collection days on Tuesday and Friday will have recycling collected on Friday.
Collection Guidelines
- Upon request, GFL will provide all residents with two bins: one for solid waste and another for recyclables.
· Please have solid waste ready for collection at curbside (or as close to the roadway as practicable without interfering with or endangering the movement of vehicles or pedestrians) in the GFL-provided containers no later than 7 am. - Collection of residential refuse shall not start before 7:00 a.m. or continue after 7:00 p.m. on the same day, Monday through Friday.
o GFL is not required to clean up or collect loose refuse or spillage not caused by the acts of its employees, so please ensure all refuse is contained and/or bagged. - Refuse must be in bags or GFL-provided bins, weighing no more than 40 pounds.
- Special pickups may be arranged by GFL in instances where property owners and/or residents have items in quantities or types not normally covered, but such special pickup arrangements shall be made between GFL and the owners/residents.
- GFL will not collect hazardous waste, including refrigeration appliances that have not had CFC’s removed by a certified technician prior to collection, tires, automobile/vehicle batters, petroleum products, paints and other chemicals and solvents identified as hazardous by the EPA.
- GFL will maintain a list—made available to residents upon request—containing the names of at least two vendors who are licensed by the state to remove refrigerants from appliances.
Recycling & Green/Yard/Brush Waste
- Recycling and green/yard/brush waste services in the City of Stafford are collected once per week per designated area by GFL Environmental. Collection days coincide with solid waste pickup days, and recycling and green/yard/brush waste are collected on the second pickup day of the week.
- Those residents with collection days on Monday and Thursday will have recycling and green/yard/brush waste collected on Thursday, and those with collection days on Tuesday and Friday will have recycling and green/yard/brush waste collected on Friday.
- Recyclable materials include (but are not limited to) newsprint, magazines, plastic (PE and HDPE), glass containers, aluminum cans, metal (tin) cans, and cardboard.
- Green/Yard/Brush waste materials (but are not limited to) grass clippings, leaves, tree trimmings, branches, and other items derived from plants, bagged or containerized, weighing less than forty (40) pounds and limited to 8 bags and/or bundles.
- Tree and brush limbs shall be no larger than three (3) inches in diameter and cut into four-foot (4) lengths.

- Hazardous or Toxic Chemicals or Materials, including but not limited to wastewater treatment plant sludge, petroleum and petroleum products, natural gas and natural gas products, asbestos, lead and polychlorinated biphenyls, freon, motor oil, gasoline, paint and paint cans, and any other radioactive, volatile, corrosive, highly flammable, explosive, biomedical, infectious, bio-hazardous, toxic, or hazardous waste substance or material, as defined by applicable federal, state, or local laws or regulations.
Items not collected will be tagged explaining the reason for non-collection.
