
Assistant Chief Kelly Wright
Assistant Chief Wright began his law enforcement career in 1991 and joined the Stafford Police Department in 2003. With more than three decades of experience, Assistant Chief Wright has served the community in a wide range of operational and leadership roles.
Over the course of his career, he has progressed through the ranks of Patrol Officer, Traffic Officer, SWAT Operator, Sergeant, Lieutenant, Captain, and Assistant Chief. This comprehensive career progression has provided him with a well-rounded understanding of frontline operations, supervisory responsibilities, and executive-level leadership.
Assistant Chief Wright holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice from Stephen F. Austin State University and is a graduate of the Law Enforcement Management Institute of Texas (LEMIT) Leadership Command College. He is a Master Peace Officer, a certified Firearms Instructor, an Advanced Accident Investigator, and has completed numerous leadership and professional development programs throughout his career.
In his current role, Assistant Chief Wright oversees the day-to-day operations of the Stafford Police Department and reports directly to the Chief of Police. He remains committed to operational excellence, supporting departmental personnel, and ensuring the delivery of professional, effective law enforcement services to the Stafford community.
